Anita Saarkessian
Anita Sarkeesian is a Canadian-American feminist media critic and public speechwriter. Feminist Frequency was created by Sarkeesian. The website hosts videos which include commentary on the representations of women that are prevalent in the media and popular culture of today. Anita Sarkeesian has been a blogger, critic of the media and award-winning feminist for over 10 years. Feminist Frequency explores how women are represented in the popular media. The challenge of destroying stereotypes regarding women is her primary goals. But, she also discusses issues of targeted harassment against women online and other minorities which have been marginalized. Sarkeesian is also a graduate of York University master's in social, political and philosophical thought. Apart from being an acclaimed public speaker she has made speeches at the TEDxWomen conference and the United Nations Broadband Working Group. Feminist Frequency was launched in 2009 by Sarkeesian, university student who has been interested in issues related to gender and feminism since a lengthy period of. As of 2009, this determined young lady was harassed on the internet for her website that focused on the gender of videogames.
